Faculty of Business, Government & Law
Welcome to the Faculty of Business, Government & Law. As Canberra's, the nation's capital, university our strategy in teaching, research and engagement is “Working with Governments and for society”.
If you are considering studying in Business, Politics, Public Administration, Economics or Law and a career in government or government relations is of interest to you, you are at the right place. Come join approximately 3500 students who share your interests in one of our programs.
There are few universities in the world that allow you to study at a place where you have a chance to attend lectures presented by ex-Ministers, or where in the afternoon you can wander past Embassy row and attend a sitting of parliament or the high court. In studies you can work on projects where you can make most of the place – government departments and agencies are just down the road, whether you need data from the ABS or wonder about Intellectual Property and want to meet with IP Australia.
I encourage our (prospective) students to add the Canberra factor to your studies. The Canberra factor together with our curriculum gives you many practical opportunities to make a difference; over many years our graduates are among the students with the best employment outcomes in the country.
If you are interested in collaborating with us or visiting us as a researcher – short term or with an international scholarship for longer periods, we can offer a Canberra factor for you as well. The faculty actively engages with departments and agencies on research projects, but more importantly, our location allows us to invite government researchers and senior executives to presentations of our research and those of our collaborators and academic visitors. As Executive Dean, I would like to invite prospective research students as well as fellow researchers to work with academics in our three schools on research that makes a difference for Australia and beyond.
