Bachelor of Arts admission is based on an entrance rank. To be eligible for this course, applicants must have a rank achieved by one of the following means:

  • Year 12 ATAR of 60+
  • Other Australian Qualification
  • Work experience, or
  • Overseas qualification.

As an alternative entry option, you can apply for a Bachelor of Arts with a portfolio submission showcasing your best creative work.

A course with Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) means the Australian Government has subsidised a portion of your degree, reducing the total balance you are required to pay (known as the student contribution amount).

The CSP amount is determined by the course you are undertaking and the industry you'll be working in after graduation.

UC’s Bachelor of Arts is taught on campus, with online components built into most units to support flexible learning. The amount of online study you can do will vary depending on your chosen specialisation and electives. Because UC Arts degrees are centered around hands-on, practical learning, being on campus gives you the best access to facilities, support and real-world learning experiences. 

If you're interested in studying a Bachelor of Arts online to balance work and family commitments, you can choose to study part-time, or switch to part-time at any point during your degree. We recommend checking the delivery options for your preferred specialisation and electives to see what would work best for you.

If you'd like some personalised advice, you're welcome to with us to chat about your options. 


As a Bachelor of Arts student, you'll have access to some of the latest and greatest learning spaces on campus! You'll study in state-of-the-art facilities, from our Heritage and Conservation Lab, Film Studio, Media Resource Centre and radio station UCFM. UC's Faculty of Arts and Design also boasts Workshop7, fitted with digital and analog technologies including 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D visualisation, VR and AR.

It's a myth that studying a Bachelor of Arts won't lead to a job — the truth is, there are limitless roles in all kinds of industries and sectors for graduates. Yes, you can apply for UC's Bachelor of Arts without an ATAR. 

UC offers a Portfolio Entry option, where you can apply for entry to an undergraduate Faculty of Arts and Design course using examples of your creative work. 

Portfolio Entry is a great pathway to university if you:

  • do not meet the admission requirements for the course you would like to study
  • are in Year 12 and would like to secure early entry to university
  • have partially completed vocational education or training
  • are a mature-age student without a secondary school qualification or previous university experience.
